Families
High school is an important time for our students to begin taking more ownership of their decisions and responsibilities. This applies to their academics, extracurricular activities, jobs, and social lives. Although caregivers need to allow for more freedom and independence, the role of the family is still a key component for the student’s success.
At CAHS, we welcome caregivers to be part of the team and give many opportunities for involvement and ways to support the students and larger community.
It is important for families to keep in mind that although the freshmen year has many exciting opportunities, it is not uncommon for there to be a period of adjustment. As CAHS is a lottery school, students are coming together from across the district. The freshman class for the 25-26 year is made up of students from 23 CCS middle schools, as well as students coming from charter/private schools, and homeschooling. There is no testing requirement or GT designation needed for incoming students. Students all have access to a robust curriculum which includes Humanities for all freshmen. Although there are high academic expectations, there is also a high level of support. The CAHS staff works diligently to help each student develop to their fullest potential.
